A group of editors of various news channels were high in spirits after they met PM Manmohan Singh on 16th January. The PM approved to do away with the strict laws made to tighten the noose on the news channels. However, an official of PMO has stated that the PM was very happy after meeting the editors. The official though didn’t elaborate much. Various officials have given hints that somewhat match the prevalent political notions of our country.
Almost all the leaders remember the first week of December. Post-Mumbai attacks the news coverage of rallies across Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad by channels reached the television sets of millions rising against the politicians and their politics. Throughout December, politicians and Govt. were busy pleading as to how the entire politics can be negated because of a few politicians. The first ever comment that came from Omar Abdullah after becoming the CM of Jammu and Kashmir was that all the politicians shouldn’t be labeled as that of the same category.
At that time, our leaders almost begged the news channels not to flow with the tide of the ideology denying Democracy. However, the issue concerned millions and their emotions, which then, was impossible to ignore. Journalistic ethics and business TRPs for the first time recognized the masses that earlier fell for superstition, a car sans driver, monkeys-bears, Rakhi Sawant and Raju Shrivastav. It was the same public that once wanted to close all these news channels. The news channels cashed on the emotions of people during and after the Mumbai terror attacks. This goes away from the present political system. In reality, the business of politics and that of the news channels is almost the same. If the people’s emotions are with the Govt., it stands fearless and if the viewers like watching a particular news channel and see it as their form of expression; the news channels remain fearless.
The time when news channels went astray, even the Govt. was lost. The Govt. policies were laden with economic concerns negating the common man aspect of it. The news channels, at this time were busy with comedy and humor with people equally involved in watching. Apparently enough, the Govt. generally focuses on a certain section and the news channels have become habitual of showing news wrapped with an illusion of entertainment. The channels are denying the role of media which is to raise public interest stories and demanding a fair implementation of Govt. policies for public welfare. Hence, when the whole question of censoring the news channels came up, the channels suddenly realized their role of the ‘fourth state’.
Nowhere has the Govt. mentioned its action plan when a news channel shows dance-music shows, reconstruction of crime sequences and sci-fi entertainment instead of news. The censor carries facts which no longer exist in the media. For an instance, riots in Gohana and Gujarat cannot be aired according to the Govt.’s censor. Bribery, doctor’s racket indulged in selling medicines in the open market etc cannot be shown. Misuse of farmer’s land on the name of SEZ cannot be broadcast. Neither the atrocities of police on people can be shown nor the encounters carried out to do away with the criminals of society. No sting operation can be carried out or aired keeping in mind the public interest. This would mean that the whole KPS Gill instance which consequentially improved the condition of the Hockey Federation could not be aired. It would also mean that before broadcasting Achyutanandan’s remarks against martyr Unnikrishnan’s father, permission from the Govt. would be required. So, if the Govt. is leftist, no permission would be granted. However, if any regional party has a support in the Centre, the issue can be made as big as concerning the national interest. So largely, not showing such news means always asking the Govt. for permission. Concerns of national interest would be decided by a bureaucrat and actions against a journalist would be taken by someone who negates even a mere possibility of affecting Nation’s dignity.
Long back, some 13-14 years ago, Doordarshan and metro aired a 20 min Aajtak, a half an hour “The World This Week” and a 45 min program called “The First Edition”. Every news and footage was monitored and was only aired after getting an NOC. Though there has been a clear difference as compared to the then scenario in terms that presently the Govt. keeps an eye on the news with views. This happens to make sure that the news is not moulded to subscribe to a certain set of views. Also, to know if any political party is being aided through the channel or if something is happening against the Govt. to malign its image.
When KPS Gill became the CEO, Prasar Bharti, in a meeting he asked as to how to define if he is more patriotic than the founder of Aajtak, Arun Puri. He said, “Who am I to question his nationalism?” That was the day when the NOC system ended. Doordarshan sold time then and the producers of news programs earned through the advertisements. The Govt. had an eye over the makers of programs and the media noticed if the Govt. demanded more.
But when the economic development made profit the core motive of policies, then what are the news channels supposed to show? There’s no monitoring as the State itself has adopted policies promoting accumulation of wealth. And the only responsibility State took up for the benefit of people was providing food to the needy and ration card-tax card and visa. Also, the Govt. has given education, health, safe drinking water, employment, housing and security in the private hands, getting rid of its own responsibilities. Hence the public started lacking interest in the Govt. and its leaders. This soft corner was caught up by the politicians. For the sake of business only the most demanded was shown. In reality, news comes with responsibility. But if the State itself indulges in getting rid of its responsibilities then it’s obvious for a news channel to become latent towards its duty which is ‘Mission Journalism’.
In this light one more thing comes up. If at all the censor comes into function, then topics ranging from astrology to supernatural elements will be shown profusely on TV. Programs of a dog-cat relation, a decade old underworld tape, a sensational crime report or a reconstruction of some romantic sequence would be shown on the name of ‘news’. And this wouldn’t need Govt. permission as this isn’t against national interest.
A question that comes to everyone’s mind at this point is that if the censor doesn’t control such situations, why are the news channels worried? The censor isn’t imposing the broadcast of news only. The first answer is, the way all the politicians cannot be categorized into a single category, so are the news channels. Not all the news channels can be viewed in a single way. And the second contention is, the politics has already lost itself in the economic development strategy and has lost faith of a majority section. Similarly, in the game of money making, media may lose its role of the fourth estate and the editors may have to confront the public on this.
If the public distrusts media, how will the politics call itself the most powerful weapon of Democracy? The reason of editors’ happiness and PM’s elatedness was that both the editors and the PM realized that they are journalists and politician respectively and this raised their spirits altogether.

The apartment owners who got their all news homes in Navi Mumbai
Those who were shifted by CIDCO in the Juinagar apartments are victims of the bitter realities of an insensitive and apathetic system. For apartment owners of JN Type apartments in Shraddha compound, shifting to Juinagar was suppose to be a make shift arrangement before their real homes were reconstructed. FSI to CIDCO built apartments reeling under dilapidated conditions is perhaps the most burning issue that haunts Navi Mumbai today. May be that’s why the victims of CIDCO’s sub standard constructed apartments are loosing faith but the first ray of hope that they’d get relief from the deplorable living conditions came when Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik had pursued the issue of FSI to CIDCO apartments during the Chief Minister’s visit to Navi Mumbai in June 2009.
Even the apartment owners who got their all news homes had shared with us how their apartments were in dilapidated conditions and after reconstruction they have homes with all new amenities. They gave the credit for this to Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik.
Redevelopment of old buildings in city
The long wait is finally over. As promised by Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik last week, Chief Minister sanctioned some key, long-pending issues that were bothering residents of Navi Mumbai for long.
The main issue remains the sanctioning of additional FSI of 2.5 for residents of JN1 and JN2 buildings in Vashi and permission to rebuild these dilapidated structures, some of which need urgent repairs.
Residents of JN1 and JN2 are rejoicing over the announcement made by state government. Ex-corporator Kishore Patkar said, "It was a long-pending proposal and residents of these buildings were waiting for last 15 years for a decision in this matter. We are indebted to Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik who kept his word and followed up on the matter regularly."

Sandeep Naik, the Standing Committee chief of NMMC filed the nomination from Airoli constituency at Saraswati Vidyalaya, Airoli as NCP candidate
Candidates from major political parties filed their nominations for the October 13 assembly elections from Belapur and Airoli seats on Thursday.
On the same day, Sandeep Naik, the Standing Committee chief of NMMC filed the nomination from Airoli constituency at Saraswati Vidyalaya, Airoli as NCP candidate. "Mathadi leader Narendra Patil, MLC Manda Mhatre, corporators and people from all caste and religions accompanied me. I would request to exercise their franchise in the favour of the right candidate," Sandeep added.
Sandeep Naik takes on the rebellious Congressmen
I am an educated person, doing good work for the people and seeking their votes on the strength of my work and my abilities. I don't even want to give a thought to my opponents; my focus is on the people.
They are fighting a lone - and a lost - battle. Not only their seniors at the state and national level are with us, but even their juniors at the grassroot level in Navi Mumbai are supporting us. So, we don't have to worry about independent individuals fighting for their own cause.
Navi Mumbai will have the advantage of having its own people across all levels - right from the parliament to the assembly, right down to the corporation. Our own people in key positions will help us in getting faster clearance for proposals and faster execution of development work. There would be no deviation on account of politics, since we will all be on the same side, with the same goal and the same vision. Talking specifically about the Airoli constituency, I have a lot of micro plans. One of them is to revive the industries in the Thane-Belapur Industrial Area, which will create a lot of new jobs and give a boost to the local economy.
Safety, Security, Peace And Harmony To Airoli – The Crime Capital Of Navi Mumbai Is My Top Priority – Says Congress-ncp Airoli Candidate Sandeep Naik
Amidst thousands of party workers and supporters, former Dy. Chief Minister and NCP State Chief R R Patil arrived in Airoli to campaign for Congress NCP candidates from Airoli and Belapur Sandeep Naik and Ganesh Naik. Addressing such a huge rally in front of senior party leaders for the first time, Sandeep Naik stole the show as the dynamic youth candidate promised safety, security, peace and harmony by making the city terror free as his priority.
Addressing his first rally of this magnitude, Sandeep Naik was a picture of confidence and determination as he said the right things and made the right promises. The Congress-NCP candidate from Airoli spoke of making Navi Mumbai terror free, which attains significance since he is contesting from Airoli – a constituency that has the notorious identity of being called the crime capital of Navi Mumbai. Over the years, murders, thefts, gang shoot outs like incidents have made people of Airoli live in an insecure and fear – filled atmosphere. Senior journalist Vikas Mahadik says that it was after NMMC was established that the greed for political power brought out the worst crimes in the city.
It's a new son-rise for Ganesh Naik
NCP-Congress alliance candidate Sandeep Naik registered victory in a cut-throat competition from the Airoli constituency on Thursday. He defeated Shiv Sena-BJP candidate Vijay Chauguley, political archrival of the Naiks, by 11,964 votes. Sandeep managed to get 79,075 votes out of the total 1,57,751 votes cast, while 67,118 voters favoured Chauguley.
'Airoli strongman' Chauguley made a good start in the initial rounds by taking good lead; however as the counting went on, Sandeep covered up the gap and after the 22 rounds of the counting, it became clear that Sandeep would represent the Airoli constituency in the House for the next five years.
The counting session was full of drama, in fact. Sandeep clinched 3,687 and 3,282 votes in seventh and eight rounds respectively, while Chauguley could garner 3,199 and 3,224 votes in those rounds. Still, at end of eighth round Chauguley had a lead of 815 votes. Thereafter, the margin remained neck-to-neck till the 14th round. However, from the 15th round onwards, Sandeep maintained a clear lead till the final round.
Ganesh Naik thank all those people who supported me from the beginning of my campaign.
“ On Thursday(22-10-09), I was a bit tensed when came to know that Chauguley was leading in the initial stages. However, I was confident about winning the polls. Now, my duty will be to identify the needs of the public and work accordingly. I will try my level best to fulfil our agenda," said an excited Sandeep. When asked whether he is happy with the margin with which he won, he answered, "I am happy with the margin since there was no MNS candidate and still we won with good margin. This indicates that youths and new voters registered with EC put faith in me. My victory is equally due to all NCP corporators and workers who put lots of efforts to the win from the constituency."
The Sandeep Naiks' main poll plank was development
The Naiks' main poll plank was development, with father and son repeatedly citing the Morbe Dam as a major achievement and promising more along the same lines.
Other much-touted achievements include the 14-km ThaneBelapur Road Project, the only highway in the state on which no toll is levied, and the introduction of Volvo and CNG buses for public transport.
The NMMC is also planning to earn carbon credit by reducing methane gas emissions and converting garbage into fuel and fertiliser.
As for the future, the Naiks have promised an independent power generation project to ensure 24-hour power supply to the city.
Other promises include more vertical growth, especially for dilapidated buildings and no increase in taxes.
The purchase of Morbe has made the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation -- where the NCP is in power too -- the first in the country to own its own dam.
With the pipelines ready, Navi Mumbai is now all set to receive 24x7 water supply, beating even neighbouring megalopolis Mumbai in this respect.
Sandeep Naik duo clean sweep in Navi Mumbai
In what seemed like a neck-to-neck fight in the first 15 rounds of counting, the battle tilted heavily in favour of NMMC standing committee chairman Sandeep Naik. In the remaining eight rounds towards the end, Chougule suffered serious setbacks in Bonkode, Kopar Khairne and large parts of Vashi.
Chougule, at one point, saw a lead of 2200 votes against Naik when votes from Airoli were being counted. In the end, however, out of the total of 1, 57,751 valid votes cast in the constituency, Naik got a lead of 11,957 votes. Naik got 79,075 votes while Chougule managed 67,118.
When asked the reason for not securing a good number of votes from Airoli, Sandeep said, "All party workers have worked equally hard in all places. It is just natural that some people have a stronghold in certain areas. But since a majority of voters have shown trust in me, I will try to win over the rest of them too," Sandeep said.
It’s Again Ganesh Naik The Badshah Of Navi Mumbai
Dynastic rule was made the single biggest allegation against the Naik family in these assembly elections. Every candidate made this an issue to attack Ganesh Naik and Sandeep Naik’s candidature appealing voters to vote against them. But the voters have given a fitting reply to these allegations said Ganesh Naik after the results were announced as he once again established that he is the badshah of Navi Mumbai.
With Dr. Sanjeev Naik having been given the parliamentary candidature from Thane Lok Sabha constituency, the allegations of dynastic rule by the Naik family had begun. And when Sandeep Naik’s candidature was announced from Airoli, the opposition made dynastic rule of the Naik family a poll issue. So much so that the Congress corporators united and resigned from the party naming the past district Chief Namdeo Bhagat as the Congress rebel candidate against Ganesh Naik in Belapur constituency and Vasant Mhatre as the Congress rebel candidate from Airoli constituency. But the rebel factor seems to have had no impact on the electoral results as NCP candidates won with a comfortable lead in both Airoli and Belapur constituency.
Navi Mumbai puts faith in Ganesh Naiks
Thane district Guardian Minister and Nationalist Congress Party's (NCP) candidate Ganesh Naik retained his Belapur seat registering 59,685 of the total 1,46,342 votes cast during October 13 assembly polls. Shiv Sena-BJP's joint candidate Suresh Haware, who was expected to give a tough fight to the NCP heavyweight, garnered 46,812 votes, while Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) candidate Rajendra Mahale and independent contestant Namdeo Rama Bhagat bagged 19,569 and 14,516 votes respectively.
Naik maintained lead over other candidates right from the first round of the counting, held at Vashi's Sacred Heart School on Thursday. The veteran leader registered 429 more votes than Haware who received 2,222 votes in the first round. The initial two rounds saw Naik and Haware competing closely, but from the fifth round, the gap between the votes bagged by the two widened with Naik getting 3327 votes and the builder-turned-politician scoring 1,429 votes at the end of the round. By seventh round, Naik's lead soared by 6,418 and after 14th round he was 9,619 votes ahead and continued the rally till the final 23rd round.
Sandeep Naik Wins From Airoli And Ganesh Naik From Belapur
NCP Congress Belapur candidate Ganesh Naik beat his nearest poll rival BJP-Shiv Sena’s Suresh Haware with a margin of 12, 873 while Sandeep Naik has won from Airoli constituency with a margin of 11, 957.
Navi Mumbai does not want change – the voters have voted for continuity and progress – continuity of Ganesh Naik’s leadership in Navi Mumbai and his progressive thoughts. And this time voters have not just shown belief in Ganesh Naik’s leadership but have extended their faith to his son Sandeep Naik – the Congress-NCP candidate from Airoli constituency as well as both the father-son are the voters choice of MLA from Belapur and Airoli constituency. As the counting for the Belapur constituency began from 8 am at the counting center at Vashi, Ganesh Naik’s lead just kept increasing in every round. By the time the 22 rounds of counting ended, NCP-Congress candidate Ganesh Naik secured 59, 685 votes as against his nearest poll rival BJP-Shiv Sena candidate Suresh Haware’s 46812 votes, giving Ganesh Naik a victory with a margin of 12873 votes.
Sandeep Naik provided a grand platform to the players in the form of Navi Mumbai Krida Sankul
Sandeep Naik transformed the tournament into a grand sporting festival. He gave it an Olympic-like feel and significance. the Navi Mumbai Festival organized from 28to 31 January, 2008 saw the conduct of several games like kho-kho, Kabbadi, Cricket, football, athletics, long jump, Relay Race, etc in different grounds in Navi Mumbai .Nearly 12000 students from 150 NMMC and private schools in the city competed in the festival game.
A leader is a dealer of hope. Imbibing hope Shri Sandeep Naik infused a rare self-confidence to achieve objects in sportspersons in the city. He provided a grand platform to the players in the form of Navi Mumbai Krida Sankul . The festival provided them the opportunity to hone their abilities and strengths and remove their abilities and strengths and remove their weakness. They got an opportunity to discover and study improvements while competing with best competitive players. He encouraged sportspersons by awarding grand cash prizes.
NMMC Headquarters could be the country’s new iconic marvel
The satellite city would be soon getting an iconic structure in the form of the NMMC Headquarters under construction at CBD Belapur.
Speaking on this iconic structure, NMMC Standing Committee Chairman Sandeep Naik, who is credited for pushing the project for a take off, said that there was a need for centralization of the various departments of NMMC, which would be achieved through this structure. While the building took time to get underway, the construction had already started. A unique factor of this building is that it would be an eco-friendly structure.
The construction is in full swing with the raft of the basements fitted that in another 18 months the structure would be complete. Someone has very rightly said that patience is always rewarded, For over a decade, the corporators and officials of NMMC were waiting to have their own headquarters and as the work begins in full force at the site, looks like the wait is soon going to be over that too in style. For the project promises to not just be an iconic structure and a marvel of a landmark, but the NMMC Headquarters promise to be a civic wonder like no municipal corporation in the country.
Sandeep Naik approved provisions for the civic work
His maturity in the way he conducts the standing committee meetings belies his young age. He comes prepared with complete homework, and agenda for the meeting, initiating healthy debate , showing respect for the opposition , admonishing official when wrong and complementing them for good performance, getting the municipal chief meet members demands wherever justified and finely summing up each subject, weighting the pros and cons even while acknowledging problem areas and suggesting solutions or issuing order to the administration . This confidence comes from his ‘chairman at your doorstep,’ tours to every nook and corner of all wards in the city. He is firmly rooted to the ground to every common citizen as his vision for the city in very futuristic.
The budgetary allocations of the corporation under his chairmanship are a standing example of shri sandeep Naik’s visionary leadership. He approved provisions for the civic work inside condominiums, development and beautification of gardens, parks and ponds, corridor improvement plane for palm Beach road , implementation of e-governance and integrated solid waste management project.
Ganesh Naik family in presenting the secular, vibrant and flamboyant image of Navi Mumbai
And it isn’t just the people’s love and support that has given Ganesh Naik a victory in these elections but his leadership is widely accepted across grass root Congress workers and even some Shiv Sena leaders in Navi Mumbai. The results are forcing even critics to admit that the work done by the Naik family in presenting the secular, vibrant and flamboyant image of Navi Mumbai at all levels is incomparable. That’s why no matter how much opponents try to malign Ganesh Naik’s image, but Navi Mumbai continues to have great respect & affection for the city real son Ganesh Naik. People of Navi Mumbai know that Ganesh Naik has invested in making a secular Navi Mumbai at the cost of political loss.
In democracy the stature you reach in politics is written by the people. And the people of Navi Mumbai have given their verdict by voting the Naik family to power both at Delhi and in Maharashtra – the people’s verdict once again proves that Ganesh Naik continues to be the undisputed badshah of Navi Mumbai politics.
Shri Sandeep Naik has developed network of expert well –wishers and senior citizen to guide his and suggest measures for better implementation
Shri Sandeeep Naik’s initiative led to budgetary provisions for a science museum, planetarium, swimming pool, indoor-stadium, water re-cycling , use of non conventional energy and citizens’ help- desk. Quality amenities for a good lifestyle for all income groups, timely execution of projects are his recommended tools for good, turning the vision into realty. The improvement of the city is the foremost thought mind and during every foreign trip he is possessed wanting to gain new concepts, in order to make Navi Mumbai, the world’s best city with global standard infrastructure and public amenities.
Be it starting quicker and comfortable waterway services, Volvo public transport services development for tourist destinations in the city, expediting the Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Memorial in the city, Shri Sandeep Naik has developed network of expert well –wishers and senior citizen to guide his and suggest measures for better implementation.
NMMC has issued notices and if the societies continue to waste water
MLA Sandeep Naik had reiterated this during the weekly Standing Committee meeting when the subject of 24 hours water supply from Morbe Dam was raised by a member. When the proposal of laying additional pipelines from Morbe Dam came for approval, Sandeep Naik said that Navi Mumbai was lucky that it is getting regular water supply and is working towards 24 hours when neighboring cities like Mumbai and Thane, though being rich corporations could not even dream of this as they failed to plan anything like this for their cities.
The NMMC was charging residents only Rs. 4.75 per unit as water charge while the difference of Rs. 3.25 is being borne by NMMC. This is a financial burden and even then there is continuous wastage of water by big housing societies. That’s why NMMC has issued notices and if the societies continue to waste water, NMMC will register serious charges against them.

Beautification Of City Ponds Forms Main Discussion At NMMC Standing Committee
The recent NMMC Standing Committee saw important discussions on the conditions of ponds in the city. Navi Mumbai boosts of many water bodies, which are found in nodes like Vashi, Turbhe, Ghansoli, Digha, Airoli and others. However, due to negligence over the years by the administration, these water bodies are dying a slow death. The beauties of the ponds are marred with immersions of religious idols which are still seen floating in the pond. There is dumping of debris and washing of clothes in the pond by the locals which has deteriorated the beauty of these water bodies. However, very soon these ponds will get a new lease of life as NMMC has decided to beautify the city ponds at an approximate cost of Rs 16 crores. This became the main topic of discussion in the NMMC Standing Committee meet where member Shivram Patil accused the administration of moving slowly on the tender process to beautify ponds. The administration has received funds from the MMRDA for the same. NMMC Standing Committee Chairman Sandeep Naik too urged the administration to bring in more proposals to beautify the city ponds. Presently only one proposal has been put forth by the NMMC administration.
Ganesh Naik held CIDCO responsible for the present condition of the bridge
Without mincing words, Ganesh Naik held CIDCO responsible for the present condition of the bridge. It is a known fact that there are many such bridges on rail routes on the city that CIDCO and Railways both refuse to repair passing the buck of responsibility on the other. Ganesh Naik said that if shortage of funds is the reason for this, then they would consider repairing them with JNNURM funds. Ganesh Naik said that there many flaws in CIDCO work, which would be corrected. Sanpada Bridge is one of the biggest issues that haunt locals. Hence it will be a wait and watch when this order of the Minister is executed by officials.

India's 'miracle river'SARASWATI
On 14 the June 2002 the then Culture Minister Jagmohan announced excavation to trace the ancient course of the Saraswati, the 'lost' river of Harappan civilisation, Vast and awesome, the Saraswati's holy waters are supposed to have flowed from the Himalayas into the sea & met Sindhu river Where Rann of kutch StandsToday , nourishing the land along the way. Ancient Hindu scriptures the Vedas, recorded thousands of years ago, are full of tantalizing hymns about it being the life-stream of the people.
But as the centuries passed and no one could find it, myth, belief and religion came together and the Saraswati passed into the realm of folklore. Now most people in India think saraswati as a mythical river. Some even believe that it is an invisible river or that it still flows underground. Another commonly held perception is that the Saraswati once flowed through the north Indian city of Allahabad, meeting there with two other rivers, the Ganges and the Jamuna. The confluence of these three rivers - one of which is not visible to the eye - is considered one of India's holiest spots Environmental degradation after the Human settlements in Sindh Delta Arab Invasion of Sindh and settlements of Huns and Gujjars in Rajasthan caused so much loss of green cover that it diverted Sindhu River Delta from the Run of kucch to westward .1000 years ago Run of Kuch became a mighty expanse of salty sand and this degradation also reduced the water flow of Saraswati to Almost Nil and Like the death of Aral Sea Kazakstan in 20th century the once Mighty Saraswati River mentioned in Puranas and Vedas also went away But I hope One day Modi Govt will Do something Magical by Regreening Western Rajasthan Haryana and Punjab so that one day not now but maybe 50 years from now Hindus will see Our Sacred Sarawati Re-emerging
Mr jagmohan had set up a team of four "experts" to undertake this onerous task. Scientists say new evidence could unearth the Saraswati. The legend of the mighty Saraswati river has lived on in India since time immemorial.
In a radio programme, in 2002 Madhur Jaffrey recounted the legend of the Saraswati river - and explored startling new evidence that SARASWATI may not have been a myth after all.
Some historians say Saraswati continued to flow even in the 10 the Century in a much reduced stream Some also say its still flows in isolated broken streams like Ghaghhar
The GOI , with the assistance of hydrologists, geologists, archaeologists and space scientists, Help the project Started in 2002 to bring back the Saraswati River, which dried up in Vedic times. The dry bed of the "mythological" river was spotted in satellite photos, five miles wide, coursing from the Himalayas to the Arabian Sea in ran of kutch . Some water still flows along this course, but underground..
What a privilege it will be for N Modis Govt to be part of this endeavor, unparalleled in the history of human civilization, if a 1000 km. long SARASWATI river which got desiccated about 4000 years ago comes alive to enable the present and future generations to recollect memories of Vedic cultural heritage, which is a world heritage.
